It is indeed regrettable that we cannot distinguish between what is newsworthy and good journalism when reporting or inquiring about need-to-know information. As a frequent viewer of the various media, I am appalled at the extent to which many go in gathering facts and reporting news.
Many of us have changed in our moral outlook and character over the years, but it is still the rule of thumb that we respect one another. Asking about a candidate's drug use is one thing, but to ask Hillary Clinton about her sex life is another. The question was totally out of place, ignorant and downright rude.
Perhaps the Society of Professional Journalists Ethics Committee needs to start weeding out offenders and assessing penalties when they overstep their bounds. Maybe Tom Bauerle and others feel his questioning was appropriate. But as a woman and a human being, I was most offended.
