He's here, he's gone, he's back again. It's the fabulous disappearing -- and reappearing -- Joe Martin.
Martin is now Erie County's purchasing director, which puts him back in the Rath Building, where he worked until then-County Executive Dennis Gorski fired him in 1993.
Back then, he was Gorski's parks commissioner, a job he held after a stint as a top aide to then-Mayor Jimmy Griffin.
Last week, Martin took some good-natured kidding from county legislators for his disappearing act -- and gave back as good as he got.
"You've worked for Jimmy Griffin, you've worked for Dennis Gorski, now you're working for Joel Giambra," said Cheektowaga Democrat Ray Dusza. "Let me ask you, Joe: How long do you plan to stay this time?"
"Funny," Martin said. "That's what my wife keeps asking me."
