Failure to obey a stop sign landed a man in the City Jail early Friday on felony crack cocaine charges, police said.
Kendrick A. Miller, 22, of Jordan Gardens was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a stop sign violation, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.
Miller was arrested after he allegedly passed a stop sign shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday at Ashland Avenue and 15th Street and then drove off when when a police patrol car tried to pull him over, police said.
Miller allegedly fled police, going around the block, down an alley and then abandoning the car in the 1300 block of 15th Street. He fled on foot between some homes, but Officer David Kok followed his footprints in the fresh snow to a LaSalle Avenue address where he was found hiding in the basement, police said.
Kok said Miller hid 6.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine by an Ashland Avenue building during the pursuit, but police recovered it.
