A Continental Airlines plane with 32 people aboard skidded off the runway Friday after landing at Newark International Airport en route to Buffalo. No one was hurt.
Continental Flight 1791 from Charlotte, N.C., went off the runway after landing at about 10:40 a.m., said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Greg Trevor.
The runway's pavement was dry, Trevor said.
But the Boeing 737 went off the runway into a bank of snow left over from the nor'easter that hit the East Coast earlier this week. Port Authority crews were trying unsuccessfully to tow the plane to a gate.
It was carrying 27 passengers and five crew members, said Continental spokeswoman Michele Treacy.
Flight 1791 later continued on its way, arriving at Buffalo Niagara International Airport at 1:11 p.m, officials said.
