GEORGE E. ROSSNEY, FURNACE BUILDER, VETERAN

George E. Rossney, 67, of Buffalo, a retired furnace builder and veteran, died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2000) at his residence after a long illness.

A native of Dunkirk, Rossney worked as a furnace builder for what is now Outokumpu American Brass Co., for more than 25 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War.

Rossney worked as a volunteer at the Benedict House and for Catholic Charities. He was a former member and past treasurer of the United Steel Workers Union at Anaconda Brass, and was a life member of the Irish Center of Pittsburgh.

He enjoyed swimming.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Christina DeLuca; two daughters, Renee Bordieri and Janine Rossney-McKnight; two sons, Kevin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and David; a brother, Warren of California; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Annunciation Catholic Church, Lafayette and Grant streets.
