Former West Seneca teacher Elaine M. Ceccarelli, who moved to Kennesaw, Ga., in 1981, died Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2000) in Well-star Hospice, Austell, Ga., after a long illness. She was 68.
Born in Detroit, she moved to Lackawanna at a young age and graduated from Lackawanna High School in 1949. She taught remedial reading to developmentally challenged students in the West Seneca Central School District for 15 years and lived in West Seneca.
After moving to the Atlanta area in 1981, she taught for 10 years in the Fulton County School District.
She was a member of the American Teachers Association, the National Educators of America and the Golden Agers of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Albert A. "Chick"; a son, Ed of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Trish Mazikowski of Kennesaw and Jane Conheady of Duluth, Ga.; two brothers, Don Callsen of Middletown, Ohio, and Paul Callsen of Sunrise, Fla.; two sisters, Alice West of Hamburg and Evie Gollareny of Wallingford, Conn.; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. today in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Memorial Park, Kennesaw. A local memorial service will be scheduled.
