STATE TO FUND ABUSE PROJECT

The Genesee-Orleans Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse will receive a $160,000 state grant to continue community efforts to prevent substance abuse.

The Wyoming County Department of Mental Health will receive $153,538 to improve prevention services.

The funding, part of a total of 15 programs and $2.5 million from the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, was announced by Assemblymen Charles H. Nesbitt, R-Albion, and Daniel J. Burling, R-Alexander. Burling, ranking Republican on the Assembly Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Committee, represents Wyoming County as well as the southern half of Genesee County.
