An Arcade man has been indicted by a Cattaraugus County grand jury on 26 charges, including attempted murder related to a burglary at a Freedom home.
William J. Plume, 21, of Bray Road, was named in an indictment reported to Judge Larry M. Himelein, who set Plume's arraignment for Monday.
Plume is charged with second-degree attempted murder, six counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of first-degree assault, six counts of second-degree assault, three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts each of third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Sheriff's Investigator Dennis John described the incident Dec. 16 at a home on Eagle Street as a "burglary that went sour."
Plume was allegedly armed with a knife when he broke into the home of Pat Spaulding and assaulted two men. One of them, her son, Steven, was stabbed in the neck and hospitalized at the Erie County Medical Center.
Plume is being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
