Theatre of Youth (TOY) is seeking volunteer ushers at the Allendale Theatre, 203 Allen St.
Applicants must be available during one or more of these times: 9 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Ushers must be at least 14 years of age. They are required to arrive at the theater one hour prior to performances and are asked to wear black slacks or skirt and a white shirt or blouse. If this is not possible, professional attire is acceptable. Call 884-4400.
4-H programs need volunteers for two of its endeavors:
Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Program is looking for people with sewing knowledge as judges for its 2000 Clothing Revue. Judicial training will be provided. Call Stephanie Pierce at 268-7644.
Erie County 4-H needs 4-H alumni, teachers and adults who have worked with youth to evaluate speaking presentations from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Feb. 26. They will be held at Eden and Iroquois high schools and Akron Central School. 4-H staff will provide training to be an evaluator. Call Kathy Colmerauer at 652-5400, Ext. 127.
The Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers is seeking people with experience in preparing income tax returns to work on the 2000 Tax Counseling for the Elderly program. The program provides free tax counseling to senior citizens and others at 10 Buffalo libraries and community centers. Volunteers are asked to work at least two shifts per month.
Although experience in mathematics and accounting is preferred, any interested person is welcome to take the training. After training, volunteers must pass a short written exam. Call Greenard Poles at 853-0600.
