The Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Jaycees were named outstanding chapter of the year by the New York State Jaycees. This is the second time in 27 years the chapter has received the honor.

The state chapter also recognized the Ken-Ton Jaycees as having the best newsletter in the state. The chapter also received five other state awards:

Tracie Weatherbee of Tonawanda was named outstanding community development vice president for her role in directing the chapter's community service and volunteer efforts.

Dena Stainsby of Tonawanda was named outstanding individual development vice president for her coordination of events intended to promote members' personal growth.

Stacy Grace of Cheektowaga was named outstanding secretary/treasurer for her fund-raising and chapter-organization programs.

Lannette Klahn of Amherst received the outstanding first-timer award.

Robert W. O'Connor III of Tonawanda received a governorship for outstanding long-term contributions.
