JOHN DEE YOUNG

A Mass of Christian Burial for John Dee Young, a retired American Standard employee, will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 341 Grider St.

Prayers will be said at 10 in H. Alfred Lewis Mortuary, 968 Jefferson Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.

Young, 83, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000) in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Linden, Va., Young moved to Buffalo more than 45 years ago. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He retired from American Standard in the early 1970s after 30 years. Afterward, he worked for the Community Action Organization of Erie County, 70 Harvard Place, and the Friends to the Elderly Program, 118 E. Utica St.

Survivors include two sons, Samuel and Jan; two daughters, Lovey Hill and Francine, both of Pleasantville, N.J.; a brother, Garland of Pacoima, Calif.; a sister, Mary H. of Queens; and five grandchildren.
