Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones has reached a confidential divorce settlement with his ex-wife, Karin, leaving him free to concentrate on his "first love" -- baseball.
"This year will be better than last year for him, especially now that he has this burden off his shoulders," said Jones' attorney, Jeffrey Bogart. "Other than his son, baseball is his first love."
Jones, 27, admitted in October 1998 to being the father of an illegitimate child and apologized to his wife and Braves fans. Jones vowed to work to restore his marriage, but moved out of the couple's home two weeks later.
