SUNY CHANCELLOR ACTS ON FIRE SAFETY

Fire safety procedures and the working condition of sprinklers and other fire equipment at State University of New York residence halls must be reviewed immediately, the schools' new chancellor said Tuesday.

Chancellor Robert King's decision comes less than a week after a Seton Hall University dormitory fire killed three students and injured 60 in New Jersey.

King, who was attending his first SUNY board meeting since taking over as chancellor, said he wants reviews of the equipment and procedures complete by the end of the week.
