ROYALTON WOMAN HURT IN CRASH OF PICKUP

A Royalton woman suffered head injuries Tuesday when her pickup truck struck a guardrail and a tree before overturning off Tonawanda Creek Road, sheriff's deputies said.

Wendi L. Carrigan, 37, of Tonawanda Creek Road, was taken to Erie County Medical Center, a hospital official said.

The accident occurred at 1:25 p.m. while Carrigan was westbound on Tonawanda Creek Road about 500 feet east of Minnick Road, Deputy Stephen W. Gaydos said.

Carrigan apparently was attempting to change stations on her car radio when she lost control of the pickup as she was rounding a curve. The pickup slid sideways, crossed the center line, struck the guardrail, a signpost, the tree and a tree stump and then overturned, Gaydos said.

Deputy Brett D. Thompson charged Carrigan with failure to reduce speed and failure to keep right, Gaydos said.
