A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Stoll of Lancaster, a retired maintenance supervisor for Praxair, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, 158 Laverack Ave., after prayers at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 6050 Transit Road, Lancaster. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
Stoll, 55, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo, he was a 1963 graduate of Kenmore West High School. In 1964, he began work with Union Carbide's Linde Division, which later became Praxair. He retired in 1998.
Stoll was involved in a Marriage Encounter program for the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo and was active in the parish community at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a member of the Village Square Dance Group and traveled with his wife, Kathleen E. McMahon-Stoll, to China last year to adopt their daughter, Helen Margaret-Aijie Stoll.
His first wife, Barbara M. Weiss Stoll, died in 1987.
Besides his and new daughter, he is survived by another daughter, Ruthanne Suchy; three sons, Matthew P. of Austin, Texas, and Stephen R. and Neil J., both of Lancaster; his mother, Gertrude of the Town of Tonawanda; and a brother, Richard D. of the Town of Tonawanda.
