Kenneth J. Govenettio, a retired millwright and avid amateur auto mechanic, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The Derby resident was 54.
Born in Lackawanna, he grew up in Woodlawn and was a 1963 graduate of Frontier Central High School. He had a 22-year-career at Bethlehem Steel Corp. and retired as an "A" millwright in 1988.
He was an excellent auto mechanic and draftsman and readily lent his expertise and problem-solving ability to family and friends. He had a deep interest in world affairs and loved NASCAR auto racing.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Teresa; three sons, Kenneth M. of Watertown, Karl E. of Boston, N.Y., and Michael A. of Derby; a daughter, Sherrie A. Lee of Clearwater, Fla.; three brothers, Dominic of Derby, John of South Carolina and Leonard of Orchard Park; six sisters, Anna of Blasdell, Dorothy of Buffalo, Marie Grace of Hamburg, Nancy Kresconko of Woodlawn, Kathleen Brown of Blasdell and Theresa Larson of Angola; and a granddaughter.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Vincent's Church, 2050 S. Creek Road, North Evans.
