Elaine L. Matthews, 53, a former Arcade businesswoman, died Monday (Jan. 24, 2000) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a long illness.
Until recently, Mrs. Matthews had owned and operated Second Wind Consignment Shop, Arcade, for seven years.
A longtime Arcade resident, she was born Elaine Fairfield in the Town of Cuba. She and her husband, Joseph, were married in Westons Mills in 1972.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Arcade.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lorain Cagwin of Danville, Va.; a son, Jason of Arcade; her mother, Ellena Fairfield of Maplehurst; five sisters, Janet Witt of Webster, Anita Trieskey of Palmyra, Cindy Wilson of Olean, Elizabeth Noll of Hinsdale and Audrey Colon of Marion; two brothers, Loran Fairfield of Bessimier, N.C., and John Fairfield of DeKalb, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. Burial will be Arcade Rural Cemetery.
