Until Feb. 4, visitors to the Arts Council for Wyoming County gallery at 31 S. Main St. can view an architect's renderings of a potential new look for downtown businesses.
The drawings are the first step to what officials hope will be a makeover for downtown Perry, which has seen better economic times.
The Rochester architectural firm of Doran, Yarrington & Associates has been studying the architectural history of downtown buildings for about a year, in order to make recommendations for improvement. The study was funded with $5,000 from the Preservation League of New York State.
The next step is for the Perry Development Committee to help building owners secure funding to make exterior improvements, which can be as simple as a coat of paint and an awning. Officials hope that phase can start this summer.
