This letter is in regards to the gentleman who is complaining that he can't collect unemployment after working his 26 weeks in construction. Yes, he has paid into the system, but so have many of us. A lot of us haven't collected benefits in 10 or 20 years, and some of us never have. Within a few weeks, the writer will have collected all the money he's paid into the system, and after that he is on someone else's dime.
I know many seasonal workers who, for the past 15 years, have worked their minimal time and then gone on unemployment, during which time they either go on vacation or work under the table. It's no wonder things are so screwed up in New York State. As for moving to the Sun Belt, Florida and Arizona are right-to-work states, and milk costs $4.60 a gallon in California.
