EMMA A. PLAIR, WORKED FOR LUNG ASSOCIATION

Emma A. Plair, 75, of Cheektowaga, retired chief supervisor for the American Lung Association office in Buffalo, died unexpectedly Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000) in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga.

Born Emma Adams in Winston-Salem, N.C., she attended schools there and moved to the Buffalo area in 1946. She worked for nearly 30 years for the American Lung Association, retiring in 1974.

She was a foster mother and adoptive mother for 30 years, caring for a total of 22 children.

Mrs. Plair was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.

She and Marshall E. Plair were married in 1947.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Marshella J. Lowe of Cambridge, Ont.; a son, Julius E. of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Eunice Bruce of Cleveland; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 26 Brunswick Blvd. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
