Timon/St. Jude, No. 1 among large schools in The Buffalo News boys basketball poll, notched win No. 13 Monday night, defeating Hamburg, 61-48, in a non-league game.
Charlie Comerford had 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Tigers. Kory Herring had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Joe Mihalics had 13 points.
Doug Babicz (18) and Adam Zoeller (15) led the scoring for the visiting Bulldogs.
In other non-league action, Nick Johnson led with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists as Cleveland Hill defeated Christian Central, 63-48. Aurmas Petrikas had 29 for Christian Central.
Msgr. Martin Association: K'Ron Barnes scored 24 points and Julius Page had 17 to go with 10 rebounds as Turner/Carroll, No. 1 among small schools, overpowered visiting St. Francis, 82-57. Barnes had seven assists and four steals. William Murray had 12 points for the Chargers.
Brian Ferris had 11 points for the losing Red Raiders, who suffered their first League AA loss and fell into second place behind Timon/St. Jude.
CCIAC III: Pine Valley (5-0 in division play) led all the way against previously unbeaten Sherman and took sole possession of first place with a 51-39 victory. Sherman is 5-1 in the division.
Jackie Smith led the Panthers with 16 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Tiffany Butcher had 15 points. Megan Damcott stood out for the losing Wildcats with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
ECIC I: Allison Sudol scored 17 points and Nicole Dilaura 13 as Jamestown remained unbeaten in division with a 52-32 triumph over Orchard Park. Karli Couchman of the Quakers had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Msgr. Martin Association: Danielle Guetta was 3 of 3 from beyond the arc in a 15-point performance in Niagara Catholic's 59-24 victory over Turner/Carroll.
Buffalo Seminary romped past winless Park School, 70-28. Alexis Peterson led the Sem with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lindsey Ross had 14 for Park.
Canisius Cup: Alohndra Brown had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Germany Jackson scored 11 as Traditional dominated da Vinci, 62-20. Dionne Turnage had 21 rebounds and Amanda Artis 18 for the Lady Bees.
Non-League: Jillian Pienkowski led Villa Maria past JFK, 48-27, with 16 points, 15 rebounds and five steals. Teammate Jocelyn Kiszewski had 10 rebounds.
