Antonina "Lee" Vizzi, who had worked at many area department stores, died Monday (Jan. 24, 2000) in Amberleigh Retirement Community, Amherst. She was 79.
A lifelong resident of the area, the former Antonina Vella was a 1938 graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School.
Mrs. Vizzi had worked as a sales clerk at the former Adam, Meldrum & Anderson, Flint & Kent, Oppenheim Collins and Gutman's. She was an avid bowler and reader who could read a book a day.
She contributed photographs and information for the book "America's Crossroads: Buffalo's Canal Street/Dante Place, The Making of a City."
Her husband, Vincent J., died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Insalaco of Kenmore; a son, Carl of York, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Prayers will be said at 10 in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Entombment will be in Holy Family Mausoleum, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
