The Akron Central School Board has given its support to a capital project proposed by the Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
The School Board recently attended an open house at the
Harkness Center, according to interim Superintendent Kenneth J. Dyl. Dyl said that some classroom work is necessary and that BOCES wants to start the project this year.
The amount of the project to upgrade three BOCES buildings is $20 million, Dyl said. He added that 19 component school districts have been asked to approve the project by Feb. 29.
"I determined that most of the project has to do with upgrading the facilities," he said. "Our responsibility, based on our total enrollment figure, is $478,000. Our net cost, after BOCES aid, is $150,000."
