Whatever the factors that led to it, divorce takes a toll on self-esteem. Before you can even consider moving on to friendlier times, you have to de-stress and dismantle anger.

Try these techniques, recommended by therapists:

Deep relaxation. Meditation. Yoga. Do something 20 minutes a day to center yourself.

Physical exercise. Walk, bicycle, run, weight-train. Make something a routine in your life.

Join or start a divorce support group. You are not alone.

Set new goals for yourself. Take a class. Read a book. Try a new hobby or job.

Keep a journal of your feelings. Make note of accomplishments, big and little.

Humor is still the best medicine. Seek it out. Laugh with fiends. Socialize.
