Don't look now, but a long-running rivalry in the 'burbs is getting hot again.
Bill Kindel and Susan Grelick, the oil and water of the Amherst Town Board.
She has twice defeated Kindel in elections -- once for town clerk and once for supervisor.
Now Kindel, a Town Board member, is talking about taking his chances against her in court.
Kindel's upset that Grelick and the new Republican Town Board reversed course and decided not to sign a contract with a land conservancy group to preserve parkland in North Amherst.
The previous board had agreed to, but Grelick hasn't signed any papers yet.
If she doesn't sign, Kindel warned at a town meeting, he will file a lawsuit against her.
If he sues, "we don't have to pay for it, do we?" she asked the town attorney, sarcastically.
Don't bother, Kindel replied. He's willing to pony up himself.
"It would be the best money I ever spent," he said.
