ROYALTON CRASH CAUSES POWER LOSS

Power was knocked out in the western part of town about 8:45 p.m. Friday after a vehicle snapped a utility pole in half on Chestnut Ridge Road between Cottage and Hollenbeck roads.

The power outage extended from the Lockport-Royalton town line to Hollenbeck Road, sheriff's deputies said.

The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not available, suffered a minor head injury, deputies said. Wires fell across Chestnut Ridge Road, and traffic had to be detoured.

Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. crews were summoned to make repairs, but deputies said they expected the outage to continue for several hours.
