Mayor Robert Kesicki announced Friday that he will veto the Common Council's Jan. 18 action to continue the contract of consultant Patrick Morris of Salamanca.
Kesicki said he had told Morris on Jan. 10 that the contract would not be renewed, and that he met with three Council members, a majority, "to inform them of my intentions."
"After careful review of the consultant's achievements over the past 12 months, I can only say his performance has been disappointing," said Kesicki, who wants to hire a deputy director of development.
The Council, however, OK'd the contract continuation unanimously. Four votes out of five are needed to override the veto, which will be considered at the Council's Feb. 1 meeting.
