Musician John Tesh is suing an online firm that registered the Internet domain name johntesh.com.
"John Tesh is a recognized family brand whose ability to promote products and family values has been recognized worldwide," Charles N. Kenworthy, Tesh's lawyer, said in the lawsuit against Celebsites.com.
The attorney said the competing site could compromise Tesh's authorized site -- tesh.com.
Celebsites.com officials did not answer an e-mail inquiry.
The federal lawsuit was filed under a law passed last year that bars "cybersquatting," or registering an Internet domain in the name of a famous person or company, then trying to sell it for a profit.
