A Mass of Christian Burial for James E. Giessert Jr., an Internal Revenue Service employee, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, with prayers at 9 in Wedekindt Funeral Home, 280 Grover Cleveland Highway, Eggertsville. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
Giessert, 48, died unexpectedly Thursday (Jan. 20, 2000) in his Amherst home.
A Buffalo native, Giessert graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and earned his his bachelor's degree in transportation from Niagara University in 1974. He worked for the past 14 years as an IRS taxpayer specialist.
A devoted member of St. Leo the Great Church, Giessert also was an avid sports fan and reader.
Survivors include his wife, the former Denise Bardini; a daughter, Constance, a son, Edward, and mother, Dolores, all of Amherst; and three sisters, Georgia Duffy of Amherst, Christine Anthony of Royalton, Ohio, and Bonnie Mannuella of Cheektowaga.
