Attorney Joseph F. Crangle, former Erie County and state Democratic chairman, has been named to the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York.
Crangle's appointment by bank chairman Bruce Morrison to the part-time post that pays $15,000 a year was recommended by Rep. John J. LaFalce, D-Town of Tonawanda, ranking Democrat on the House Banking Committee, and President Clinton.
Until 1989, the home loan bank system regulated the savings and loan industry. Now it is a wholesale bank serving independent community banks as M&T Trust of Buffalo.
Crangle's term on the 17-member board expires Dec. 31, 2002. Crangle is director and treasurer of the $100 million Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, and is chairman of the Bishop Timon-St. Jude Board of Trustees.
