BIG FOURTH QUARTER LIFTS KENMORE EAST OVER LOCKPORT

Kenmore East passed a mid-season test Friday night, beating host Lockport, 58-42, in a Niagara Frontier League game.

The No. 1 large school Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Lions, 21-8, in the fourth quarter for the win. Mary Beth Owczarzak made 11 of 12 free throws and finished with 17 points. Felisa Brown added 12 and Maria Atti 10 for East (12-1, 7-0). Lockport (6-6, 6-2) was led by Allison Depp with 17 points.

Elsewhere in the NFL: Sisters Jamie and Sandi Gerace had 12 points each as Kenmore West beat Grand Island, 56-36. Chelsea Robertson and Karey Lizauckas split 20 for the Blue Devils. The Vikings got 14 points from Katie Remus.

Chonita Palmer made the front end of a one-and-one with 9 seconds left to help LaSalle beat North Tonawanda, 75-74. Palmer finished with 28 points, eight assists and six rebounds, and Jessie Macri added 18 for the Explorers. Erin Strassburg had 25 points for the Lady Jacks and Andrea Hutton and Jamie Gorczynski added 12 each.

Joanne Rickard made a pair of free throws with 40 seconds left to snap a tie as Niagara-Wheatfield edged Lewiston-Porter, 38-34. Becky Sheehan led the Falcons with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Christy Heintz grabbed 17 rebounds for the winners.

ECIC I: Chrissy Baum had 15 points and Tessa DiBenedetto 10 as Williamsville North topped Lancaster, 60-32. Tara Fornasiero added eight points and nine rebounds for the Spartans.

CCIAC I: Jen Stuczynski had 25 points and five steals as undefeated Fredonia rolled passed Gowanda, 60-24. Sue Karalia, who missed the Hillbillies last game with a foot injury, tallied 11 points. Meghan Himelein led the Panthers with 10.

Katie Estes scored 14 points while Erin Lee added 12 points and 12 rebounds in Olean's 64-51 win at Allegany-Limestone. Angie Waldron also chipped in with 11 points and six assists for the winners. Jen McNeill led Allegany-Limestone with 19 points.

Msgr. Martin Association: Kathy Over had 17 points and Mary Helak add 12 as St. Mary's of Lancaster beat winless Turner/Carroll, 67-16. . . . Amy Bushen had 14 points and Jackie Orlando 11 as Immaculata downed Niagara Catholic, 51-38. Beth Kozlowski (14) and Danielle Guetta (13) led the Rapideers.

Canisius Cup: Alohndra Brown had 19 points and Dionne added 17 as No. 5 small school Traditional beat Buffalo Arts, 68-26. . . . Nicole Smith had a season-high 21 points and Tiya Bibbs added 19 as Bennett beat Seneca, 81-33. Jessica Waker grabbed 20 rebounds for the Tigers. Traditional (6-0) and Bennett (6-0), the only undefeated teams in the Canisius Cup, meet Feb. 9 at Traditional. . . . Shatay Prude had 21 points, including four three-pointers, as McKinley downed winless Riverside, 60-28. . . . Ashley Deas and Davisa Lias had 14 points each as Lafayette downed Grover Cleveland, 63-36. Timeka Cornelius led the Presidents with 18 points. . . . Kim Keheller had 20 points and Jasmine Arnold 17 as South Park beat Kensington, 47-33. Patina Williams led the Knights with 10 points. . . . Monicka Phillips had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals to lead Burgard to a 55-32 win over Emerson. . . . Tanika Murphy had 22 points and Victoria Ferguson 12 points and eight rebounds as City Honors bested Hutch-Tech, 38-19.

Niagara-Orleans: Kristen Curry's three-pointer with 1:43 remaining proved to be the game-winner as league-leader Wilson edged Starpoint, 39-37, in double overtime. The win completes a season sweep for the Lakewomen, 28-23 winners over Starpoint in its league opener. Jamie Feagin had 12 points and 14 rebounds for Wilson.
