Viola K. Demakis, 88, of Niagara Falls, a waitress for various restaurants in the Niagara Falls area for more than 40 years, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) in Schoellkopf Health Center here after a long illness.

Born Viola Kolodziej in Niagara Falls, she attended local schools. She enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint.

Her husband, Gus, died in 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, Constance L. Sanchez of Grand Island; two sisters, Julia Bachorski and Mary Glemb, and a brother, Anthony Kolodziej; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston.
