A Hamburg school bus driver and bus aide have been charged with unlawfully dealing with a child after they allegedly took a 17-year-old student to their apartment and supplied him with drugs and alcohol while he was supposed to be in school.
The driver also has been charged with attempted robbery and grand larceny in connection with two purse-snatching incidents in the parking lot of the McKinley Mall the same day, Dec. 22, town police said Thursday.
Mark L. Hendel, 26, and Cindy Snider, 31, who live together on South Park Avenue, Hamburg, were charged with unlawfully dealing with a child.
Detectives Kenneth Preston and Thomas Best Jr. said Hendel allowed the student to skip school and go to their apartment instead. They said the student was with Hendel later when Hendel attempted to steal one purse and successfully stole another in the mall parking lot.
No charges have been filed against the student, pending further investigation.
