PERFORMING ARTS TRIBUTE TO KING PLANNED IN SHEA'S

A performing arts tribute commemorating the birthday of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in Shea's Performing Arts Center.

The theme for this year's program is "2000: The Other Side of the Mountain." It will feature a blend of dramatic, choral and solo performances from around Western New York.

Among the scheduled performers are the Western New York Mass Choir, dancers from Miss Barbara's School of Dance, an oratory by local actor Ernest Griffin and a performance by storyteller Karima Amin.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee has staged this tribute annually since 1980.
