MOM'S CAR HITS HYDRANT, BABY EXAMINED IN HOSPITAL

A 3 1/2 -week-old boy was examined in Lockport Memorial Hospital after his mother's car slid into a fire hydrant at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at Clinton and Scovell streets, police said.

Elijah G. Cooper of Phillips Road, Burt, was released from the hospital early Wednesday.

The crash accident occurred when Kathleen A. Cooper lost control of her car on the slushy roadway, jumped a curb and struck the hydrant with the rear end of her car.

The baby was taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said.
