Detectives investigating the armed invasion of a Ninth Street apartment early Wednesday ended up arresting a resident on a felony marijuana charge.
Aaron Shiah, 21, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana. At least two pounds of marijuana was found in his bedroom closet, Detectives Ted Weed and Carl Berak said.
Officers were called to the scene at 1:28 a.m. after three armed persons wearing black clothing and black ski masks kicked in the door, rushed into the second-floor apartment armed with at least one handgun, and identified themselves as city police officers, Berak said.
One of the bandits ordered a woman and her teen-age son to the floor, then hit the woman in the hand with a handgun, Berak said. The three ransacked two bedrooms and fled, apparently empty-handed, police said.
As officers searched bedrooms for evidence, they found the suspected marijuana, Berak added. Shiah was at work at the time, he added.
