Movie star couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are still "very much together," contrary to reports from Britain that their romance might have hit a snag, his spokesman said Monday.
Publicist Allen Burry dismissed a story, published Friday in London's Daily Star newspaper, that said the raven-haired Welsh actress had returned home for Christmas alone, fueling speculation of a rift with Douglas. The paper said that when Zeta-Jones arrived in London last week, she was no longer wearing a diamond ring the American film star had bought her earlier this year.
"First of all, this ring is hers. He never bought her a ring. She has had it for years. And secondly, they are very much together," Burry said. "There has been no rift."
He said they were presently together in the United States.
Zeta-Jones, 30, who gained superstardom opposite Sean Connery in the action thriller "Entrapment," began dating Douglas, 55, earlier this year, but the two repeatedly have denied through spokesmen that they are engaged.
