Jason D. Markle, 24, of Perry Center died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Route 246.
Markle, a territory sales manager for Alside Corp. in Rochester, was traveling north on Route 246 in Perry Center when he lost control of the car during heavy snowfall and whiteout conditions Sunday. Wyoming County sheriff's deputies said Markle's crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a milk truck. .
Born in Buffalo, Markle was a 1993 graduate of Perry High School, where he played football and tennis and ran track. He also was a member of the National Honor Society.
In 1997, he graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology, where he was in an honors fraternity.
Markle was an avid sports enthusiast, and, though he was born in the city, he loved the country, according to his family.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Perry Center, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Markle and his wife, the former Janelle Sage, had just relocated to Perry Center after living in Quakertown, Pa. They were married Oct. 16.
Other survivors include his mother, Kristina of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Jacqueline Shrum of Pryor, Okla., and Lynn Andrews of Columbus; and his maternal grandmother, Helene Page of Columbus.
