Police are investigating a rape complaint brought against boxer Oscar De La Hoya that the former welterweight champion's lawyer maintains was spurred by De La Hoya throwing a woman out of his home.
In a statement released Tuesday, police said the reported assault was said to have occurred about 1 a.m. Monday.
No charges have been filed, and police declined to release any other details.
De La Hoya's lawyer, Robert Chapman, said the complaint was raised to embarrass the boxer after he called police and asked them to remove three women who refused to leave a party at De La Hoya's home.
The boxer is engaged to Shanna Moakler, an actress on the USA Network's "Pacific Blue" series. Their daughter, Atiana Cecilia De La Hoya, was born in March. De La Hoya also has a 1-year-old son, Jacob, by another woman.
