Theresa T. Benedyk, 82, of Depew, a retired Internal Revenue Service auditor, died unexpectedly Saturday (Dec. 25, 1999) in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga.
A native of Arnold, Pa., the former Theresa Taradena was a graduate of New Kensington (Pa.) High School.
During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. She moved with her husband, the late Walter J., to Western New York 50 years ago to establish their family. She continued to work for the federal government as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. She retired in 1973.
Mrs. Benedyk was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for the past 18 years. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary No. 250, Knights of St. John, and the Brothers of Mercy Guild and was known for her kindness, generosity and wit.
Survivors include two daughters, Thea Skowron of Depew and Judith Kubit of East Aurora; a brother, Sigmund Taradena; and six grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 6050 Transit Road, Lancaster, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 French Road, Depew. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
