Sophie Zayac, 69, a retiree of Harrison Radiator Division, General Motors Corp., died Friday (Dec. 24, 1999) in Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born Sophie Mrozek in Toronto, she moved to Lockport 51 years ago. She worked at Harrison for 34 years as an assembler, retiring in 1988.

Mrs. Zayac enjoyed reading murder mysteries and doing crossword puzzles. She was known for a delightful sense of humor, her family said.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Peter C.; three daughters, Judy Huffman of Gasport, Camille Walker of Barker and Gloria Palisano; a brother, John Mrozek of Toronto; a sister, Mary Parhuto of Toronto; her dear friends, Helen Dempsey and Dorothy Straha; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8110 West Ave., Gasport. Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
