Rap mogul Sean "Puffy" Combs proclaimed his innocence on weapons charges late Monday after spending most of the day in police custody following a shooting at a dance club.
He was freed on $10,000 bail after he and girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were arrested fleeing the shooting that wounded three people. A stolen pistol was found in the couple's vehicle.
"I do not own a gun," Combs told reporters outside the courthouse. "I do not carry a gun. The charges and allegations against me are 100 percent false."
The shooting occurred early Monday inside Club NY in Times Square. A lesser known rapper called Shyne -- whose real name is Jamal Barrow and who is signed under Combs' Bad Boys Records label -- was charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
Initially police Commissioner Howard Safir said both Combs and Lopez were being charged with weapons violations. But later, the Manhattan district attorney's office said Lopez would not be prosecuted, and she was freed.
