The Village of Lancaster will greet the new millennium and close out its sesquicentennial year with a huge bang Friday.

The "Last Night Lancaster" celebration will start at 10:30 p.m. with musical entertainment and prize giveaways in the village's downtown business district on Central Avenue and West Main Street. A few minutes before midnight, an illuminated apple will descend from the clock tower of Town Hall. Once the apple touches down at the stroke of midnight, the skies will light up with a large fireworks display.

The celebration will bring to a close a yearlong celebration of the village's incorporation 150 years ago.
