The Buffalo Bandits won two of three 20-minute scrimmages against National Lacrosse League foes at Marine Midland Arena.
Brent Rothfuss tallied the go-ahead goal against Syracuse with six minutes left and Travis Kilgour provided an insurance marker with 18.5 seconds remaining in a 3-1 victory. Rookie Pat Maddelena had three goals in a 7-3 win over the expansion Albany Attack.
The Rochester Knighthawks got two goals from No. 1 draft pick John Grant Jr. in an 8-3 win over the Bandits.
Second-year forward Andy Ogilvie, who played in only four games last season before suffering an injury that required reconstructive surgery on both knees, returned and played four shifts against Syracuse.
"I hadn't played in a game since last January so I was a bit nervous about testing out the knees," Ogilvie said. "But they came out fine."
