The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association has been awarded a one-year, $150,000 grant by the John R. Oishei Foundation.
The grant will go to fund research for developing and testing treatment guidelines for skilled nursing facility patients with behavior problems. The grant is renewable for a second year. It will support a research project of the Western New York Consortium for Quality Improvement in Geriatrics, of which the Alzheimer's Association is a member.
Other members participating in the development of the proposal are Beechwood Continuing Care, ElderWood Affiliates, Niagara Lutheran Health System and Presbyterian Homes of Western New York.
