MAN IS REMOVED SAFELY AFTER THREAT TO KILL HIMSELF

Members of the Niagara County Sheriff's Emergency Response Team were called in Sunday when a man, reportedly armed with a rifle, threatened to kill himself after a domestic incident with his former girlfriend.

Sheriff's Deputies Kevin Smith and Gerald Granto said that a woman had barricaded herself and her 15-month-old child inside the bathroom of a Corwin Station residence after the man became violent and then threatened to kill himself.

After the Emergency Response Team members were called in shortly after midnight Saturday, deputies negotiated a quick and uneventful conclusion, transporting the man to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.

No one was injured during the incident, police said.
