Authorities accused a 17-year-old girl of shooting her parents to death as they slept in their bed on Christmas morning.
Stephanie Catherine Barron, who was arrested Saturday night, was being held for investigation of two counts of murder, Sheriff J. B. Smith said.
Deputies received a call about the shooting at about 4 a.m. They arrived at the house just east of Tyler and found that Stephen Wayne Barron, 44, and his wife, Carla, 43, had been shot in the head.
A handgun was found in the bedroom.
Stephanie initially told deputies she heard what she thought was an intruder in the house and shots coming from her parents' bedroom. She said she hid in her closet, then ran to her grandparents' house next door.
After several hours of investigation, deputies arrested Stephanie for investigation of murder. A motive remained unclear.
