While driving to a friend's house the other day, I was detained by the light at Genesee Street and Transit Road in Lancaster. I looked up and noticed a Realtor's brightly lit sign, which read, "Tis the season to buy a foreclosure." I was shocked to see this rude and obnoxious advertisement. This is not funny or in any way tasteful.
Having just been laid off from my job and wondering when and where the next paycheck will come from, and also having just gone through a foreclosure myself, I was deeply offended. I always thought it was the holiday spirit to try to help those in need. Are these real estate agents in need of a sale that much? Maybe if they had some financial problems of their own, they would think twice about putting up that sign. Did they ever think about what happens to the people who have their properties up for sale by foreclosure? It is very sad to think that a local business has no concern for the needy.
