RUSSIA SCORES ROUT IN HOCKEY OPENER

Evgeny Muratov had four goals and two assists as Russia routed Kazakhstan, 14-1, Saturday in a World Junior Ice Hockey Championship opener for both teams.

In the other group B game, Flavien Conne notched two goals to lead Switzerland to a 6-2 win over Ukraine.

In group A action at nearby Skelleftea, Milan Kraft scored three goals as the Czech Republic beat Slovakia 5-2 and Canada, last year's second place finisher, scored three unanswered goals in a 3-2 win against Finland.

Today, the United States plays it first game in the tournament against the Czech Republic.
