The Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, a 1985 alumnus of Niagara University, will take over as the school's executive vice president and chief operating officer Jan. 3.
He will supervise the areas of administration assigned to him by the president in this newly created position.
In addition, Holtschneider will assume the responsibilities of the Rev. Vincent H. O'Malley, senior assistant to the president, during his sabbatical leave.
Holtschneider will also assume the duties of the president, in his absence, in routine affairs.
He had been most recently assigned to St. John's University, Jamaica, L.I., serving as both assistant professor for higher education in the Graduate School of Education and as associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts.
Prior service includes a job as rector of his province's college seminary program, as case researcher and writer for Harvard University's schools of Education, Medicine and Public Health and as a faculty member in the Harvard Macy Scholars Institute for Physician-Educators.
Holtschneider received his doctorate in higher education administration from Harvard in 1997. Currently, he is conducting a national study of Catholic higher education in the United States.
